This incredibly evocative picture of the Galveston seawall and the 1900 hurricane memorial was taken by a Houston Chronicle photographer and I saw it when I got up this morning and started checking for Hurricane Ike news. The Chronicle is a a good source of info, as is this update page I found on the Weather Channel's website. Isn't it a wonderful world we live in, when I can have this information at my fingertips on the other side of the globe!
As we head off for festivities on a river never threatened by tropical storms (Mayor's Thames Festival starts today) my Houston area friends and family will never be far from my thoughts. Please email me as soon as you can!
