Well, no, although it sure does feel like it to me! This was just my lunchtime view yesterday as I took my cheese sandwich (great cheese, by the way) over to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The imposing, and no doubt insanely expensive, structure is just across Kensington High Street from the park. A pleasanter picnic spot couldn't be imagined. All that was missing was some company, but I still enjoyed it immensely and was able to get nice and relaxed before my first class met.I've now met with both of them and I thought they went pretty well. The kids seem genuinely interested in the subjects and I think we'll have some pretty good discussions over the coming weeks.
I'm starting to feel more at home, too. The coins are starting to make a little more sense, although a kindly shopgirl had to help me find the right ones to pay for my lunch a while ago. I still occasionally just punt and hand them a £5 note and hope they're honest with the change. It almost seems natural to look to the right first when attempting to cross a two-way street. Even when not helped out by the directional signs that are prevalent in Kensington. I sometimes remember to turn the switch on by the plug when I plug in my computer. I know to carry my umbrella all the time, no matter what it looks like when I leave the flat. And my goal for tomorrow is to ride a bus to the Victoria and Albert Museum instead of the tube. Wish me luck!
