Just a brief check-in to let everyone know I arrived safely back in the land of bangers and mash, after an amazingly non-tiring plane ride. I think I actually slept four hours and maybe a little more.A slightly late arrival at Heathrow made me think I wouldn't be able to catch up with my class at the Churchill Museum, but immigration was a breeze and my luggage was actually among the first out (instead of the last, as it had been in Denver) so I was able to meet the kids and our special speaker there. It's a terrific museum, and although I saw most of it, I wouldn't mind a return visit to take in more of the details. A highlight is the actual (furnishings mostly re-created) war room complex where the government and war were conducted during the Blitz. Authentic maps on the walls with the original pin-holes marking trans-Atlantic convoys—pretty cool stuff.
The museum itself is a recent addition to the war rooms and it has all the information, artifacts, and anecdotes about Churchill you could possibly want, and very well laid out and explained (a level of quality I'm beginning to expect from London museums). I had always wondered what sort of painter he was, and I got to see that he wasn't bad. What a remarkable man!
Tomorrow I'll be in class and and then helping my colleagues prepare a party for the kids tomorrow night, but I have a couple more museums on the to do list before Henry arrives Saturday, so in a day or two informative posts will hopefully resume. I miss my recently-departed guests but am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next batch!

I heard the Churchill Museum was good. It's on our list.
So glad Henry will be visiting soon I hope he will bring nice weather! I wore my wellies out on my errands today. One of the advantages of living in the country :-)
It's supposed to be warm tomorrow. I'm planning on picnicing for lunch on the Chelsea Embankment and then taking in the National Army Museum.
